What To Expect

Root canal therapy involves carefully removing infected tissue, cleaning the canals, and filling them to prevent future infection. The treated tooth is then restored with a filling or crown to ensure functionality and appearance. With advanced techniques and anesthesia options, root canal treatments are now more comfortable and efficient than ever before.

What is a Root Canal?

A root canal is a procedure to remove infected or damaged tissue from the interior of a tooth. This treatment cleans out the tooth’s root canals, alleviates pain, and helps preserve your natural tooth structure.
Dental Crowns

A crown is often recommended after a root canal to reinforce and protect the tooth. Custom-crafted to match your natural teeth, a crown helps restore full functionality and aesthetics, allowing you to smile confidently once again.

Gingivectomies
Sometimes, a gingivectomy may be recommended alongside a root canal to remove infected gum tissue and improve oral health. This procedure can reduce infection risk and support gum health around the treated area. A balanced, healthy gum line is essential for a strong, lasting smile.

Nitrous Oxide Gas

To help make your visit as comfortable as possible, we offer nitrous oxide gas, affectionately referred to as “laughing gas”. The gas is administered through a small mask placed over the nose. The patient then breathes through his or her nose and out through his or her mouth. The patient will begin to feel relaxed and comfortable between thirty seconds and four minutes, and the doctor can then, if necessary, administer the anesthetic, or injection.

The nitrous oxide is then turned off, and the patient breathes pure oxygen for five minutes, or until all effects of the sedation have been reversed. When finished the procedure, the patient can generally leave the office without an escort. Nitrous oxide does cause nausea in some patients. The nitrous oxide will not be used on patients with blocked nasal passages or those who are claustrophobic because it will not be effective.
